senshual fashhun

yum.

i don't know how you would make such amazingly crafted things last but either way, these works from 'a mattter of taste' by italian photographer fulvio bonavia are kinda lushhhcious.

i wonder if ever fulvio, as a kid, was told to never play with his food? (go fulvioooo yeah prooooove them wrong)

on a side note, today after class, we had our combined colleges' amnesty international meeting (which lou is a leader of). we watched a bit of this movie rendition. it was really interesting and a little disturbing. we had been focusing on a theme of torture in previous meetings. although the film was just a dramatized fictional story, it was based on real cases of extraordinary rendition in the USA, and the extrajudicial torture performed on people by the CIA behind closed doors.
it's so hard to distinguish what right and wrong is; if one man is a possible terrorist and therefore if inhumane torture is the correct method to extract information. i don't know.

alas, in difficult times, isn't fashion always outrageous?

the umbrella.

A fuck you to rain.

Recently in Wellington the weather has turned to liquid. Everyday as I walk down the streets I feel as if I'm under the sea and surrounded by hundreds of different species of jellyfish shaped umbrellas. Quite fascinating mechanisms umbrellas are AND they have been around forever (just wiki it). They also seem to be collaborating with all types of artists (they pretty much made Rhianna famous). Perhaps they are THE next great accessory?

ultra protection sorted?

getting emotional.

Do YOU have any wild umbrella stories? What do these dryness (mostly) guaranteed objects symbolise for you?

Keep thinking.

week four

these pretty pictures somehow made me dream of the summer holidays today. oh i do love autumn, in fact it is my favourite season, but it is rainy and gloomy outside and i miss those days and nights lying in the grass, picnics in the sun, reading books under trees and endless sunny road trips! (although i have truly never been on one but i would love to go on one right now! though i have yet to learn to drive!)

for nearly a month now after school and on weekends etc i have been busy helping sew the 60+ outfits needed for the stage challenge costumes, but i'm super excited because they are nearing finish! also this coming saturday i will be a sound assistant/boom mic operator for lou's short film project. possible career path? we shall see!

ruby ruby ruby ruby! ( do you do you do you do you!)

a little place i know

One always hears about the fabulous events going on at the big hot shot art galleries in their cities-and that is fantastic, but what about the little, off to one side art galleries? I do some volunteer work for Wellington's Victoria Uni. art gallery which is called the 'Adam Art Gallery' & I have to say, that's a pretty cool place. At the moment they have an exhibition clalled 'Play On' which I can't wait to check out. Look at their website on http://www.adamartgallery.org.nz/

Do you have those special out of the way places like this cute art gallery that you go to, too? If not-do some research on the town you're in at the moment

Go adventuring!

cute with a bit of activist teen spirit

I have to make a short film for school and decided to make a Woody Allen-esque comedy with subtle refrences to T.S. Eliot's 'The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock' (totally cultured ;D ) and I want to include the cute cute technique of stop motion. When finding examples of it I came across this sweeeeet little thing and even if you don't like the song you HAAAVE to appreciate the amount of time setting up and taking all those pictures would have required!

And on a totally different note, absofrockinlutely want to say we're absolutely against National's proposal to mine up our beautiful N.Z.
