city of darkness revisted

While in Hong Kong my host, Oriana, invited me to a panel discussion centered around the launch of the book City of Darkness Revisited. The panel's main guest was photographer, Ian Lambot, who - joined with Greg Girard - photographed the now destroyed Kowloon Walled City over four years. Ian filled the talk with stories of his experiences and the people he encountered. A particularly charming encounter was with the city's postman - one of the only people to have some idea on how to get around the supremely condensed and labyrinth-like city.

The book's website is filled with stories and information about the project and the city - it's hard not to become captivated by it all.
